Observer Corps

The League has been a champion of government transparency since our founding in 1920. The Deschutes League
is an integral part of the community consistently observing the work of our cities and county government.

OBSERVING THE WORK
OF OUR GOVERNMENT

LWV monitors public meetings to assure there is transparency, accountability and citizen engagement that supports good government. The Deschutes Observer Corps (OC) consists of members who volunteer to attend public government meetings, take notes, and report back to the League, and through the League to the community. OC volunteers help us build relationships with elected officials and spot opportunities for our League to be an effective contributor to the civic fabric of our communities.

ENSURING TRANSPARENCY
IN GOVERNMENT

Observing ensures that the issues facing our communities and county are being handled  in the "sunshine”, in the open.

It is a function of the League in which all members can take part and a role that can be done fully from home.
